Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Landing on the moon!

This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission, which landed on the moon on July 20th, 1969.  Astronaut Neil Armstrong made history taking the first steps on the moon.  Remember his famous quote “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”  Here are some fun bay area celebrations to remember this historic mission.

The USS Hornet in Alameda picked up the Apollo 11 crew when they landed in the Pacific Ocean on July 24th, 1969 after this historic mission.  They are hosting a week full of events including big celebrations this weekend.

See newly restored footage of the moon landing and hang out under the 16 foot sculpture of the moon at the Exploratorium in San Francisco.  Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing with extended hours from 10am – midnight.
