Does Music Affect The Way You Drive?

By 965koit on September 19, 2019

Depending on what mood I’m in, I’ll listen to different genres of music while driving. Have you ever noticed that there are certain songs that make you drive recklessly? Or is that just me?

Usually if I’m rockin’ out to some Metallica, I’ve noticed that I will start driving much faster than anticipated, but if I’m listening to some older Taylor Swift I’ll just cruise along.

Well apparently I’m not the only one. According to some new research by the South China University of Technology, songs with a fast tempo of 120 beats-per-minute or higher are more likely to make you drive faster and more recklessly.

Here are the five MOST dangerous songs, according to the study:

1.  “American Idiot”Green Day

2.  “Party in the USA”Miley Cyrus

3.  “Mr. Brightside”The Killers

4.  “Don’t Let Me Down”The Chainsmokers

5.  “Born to Run”Bruce Springsteen

The five LEAST dangerous are:

1.  “Stairway to Heaven”Led Zeppelin

2.  “Under the Bridge”Red Hot Chili Peppers

3.  “God’s Plan”Drake

4.  “Africa”Toto

5.  “Location”Khalid.

Do you think this aligns with the way you drive? Let me know in the Facebook comments and then listen to me Sunday mornings on 96.5 KOIT!
