Today I did the unthinkable!! I forgot my phone at home with no time to turn the car around! I know!! UGH!!! Okay, so it’s not the end of the world but for a moment I do have to admit some anxiety and worry did cross my mind. I had a meeting that I had to be at by 2:30 and just in case there might be an emergency some time during the day how would I be able to call anyone or how could I be reached? I know this is a common feeling and it is quite sad that most of us feel the same way and are effected like this because there was a time, not too long ago, when we didn’t even have cell phones “chained” to ourselves. Below is the sequence of events that I felt inside the moment I forgot my phone to when I felt freed by not actually having it! Maybe you can relate.
PHASE 1 OF FORGETTING YOUR PHONE AT HOME:
A BIT OF PANIC OR WORRY SETS IN!
PHASE 2 OF FORGETTING YOUR PHONE AT HOME:
REALIZING YOU NEED TO BREAK THE ANXIETY OF BEING SO RELIANT ON YOUR PHONE.
PHASE 3 OF FORGETTING YOUR PHONE AT HOME:
YOU’RE FORCED TO BREAK THAT RELIANCE SINCE YOU DON’T HAVE TIME TO GO BACK AND GET IT OR YOU’LL BE LATE FOR WORK!
PHASE 4 OF FORGETTING YOUR PHONE AT HOME:
THE JOY OF KNOWING THAT THINGS WILL BE OK AND REMEMBERING THAT AT ONE TIME YOU NEVER HAD A PHONE AT ALL TIMES AND LIFE WAS FINE!
It is good practice to unplug from everything a few days a week and just enjoy life especially without our smart phones. =) Here’s a fun article letting me know I wasn’t alone!!!
