Gilroy Pizzeria Pulls an All Nighter To Serve First Responders and Families

After the senseless tragedy that happened last Sunday at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, Gilroy’s Straw Hat Pizza’s owner Raj Nayyar was asked by Gilroy City Manager Gabriel Gonzalez if he could help out the first responders working around the clock by bringing some food.

Without a question, Nayyar quickly drove from his house in Hayward to Gilroy. He called a friend, who posted a need for help on Facebook. Then a dozen people stayed up all night making pizza, wings, and salads in Straw Hat’s kitchen. They worked all night that night and all day Monday to bring food to the first responders and victims’ families.

Nayyar doesn’t feel the job has ended on Monday because he wants his shop to continue to be a place of support. You can read more here.
