Is this the new me?

By 965koit on September 11, 2019

I’ve been feeling in a bit of a fashion rut lately.

I haven’t been loving the way I look. From my clothes to makeup, I felt like I could use a major change.

While I’m still working on the clothes part, I decided to invest in some new makeup.

Radio sister, Shan Berries has a cosmetic line called Shades by Shan so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone. I’ll support a woman-owned business while switching up my look.

I’ll admit it, when I was shopping I was feeling a bit saucy. I felt bold and daring so I went for the reddest possible lip kit that she offered. I daydreamed of myself fitting right along with the likes of the classic Hollywood beauties of the golden age of film. Or you know, Gwen Stefani. She rocks it, so why not me?

When it arrived and I threw it on immediately.

The heavens parted and angels flew down to blow their trumpets. I had found the “new” me. This was going to be MY look. When people thought of Kristen Flowers, they were going to picture immaculate red lips, and hopefully the fact that I’m on the radio in San Francisco.

I couldn’t wait to show everyone the new ME.

Then I put it on at the office and became immediately self-conscious. Was it too red? Did I look like a clown? Who did I think I was trying to pull off this bold new statement?

What would people think of me?

Even Nick said, “well those are some red lips.” He could have said, “darling, you make my heart race with those lips!” or “why goodness me, your beauty has illuminated this very room”. You know, all the things Nick is known for saying.

So now I put my lips in the hands of the social media jurors.

Is this look the new me or should I just pierce something and get a face tattoo?
