You know how the famous Mailman motto goes…”Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” Except for today in Chicago!! Record breaking cold temperatures are expected today, this morning temperatures were 23 degrees below zero, with colder weather still on the way. When you add the wind chill factor, the temperature can drop to 60 degrees below zero. Officials are advising everyone to stay indoors and schools have been cancelled.
The U.S. Post Office has canceled mail delivery and pickup for today in areas being hit by extreme winter cold including parts of Illinois and Wisconsin and all of Iowa and Minnesota.
The all-time record cold mark for Chicago was on Jan. 20, 1985, when it was -27°.
