Woah Woah Woah.
Kevin Durant just declined a $31.5M player option and will become a free agent.
Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has declined his $31.5M player option and will become an unrestricted free agent, league sources tell ESPN. Durant and his business manager Rich Kleiman are in New York, evaluating free agency options. So far, process has stayed private.

KD could have opted into the deal and gotten $31.5 million while rehabbing and not playing next season. He could have ultimately gotten paid a lot of money for not actually playing, but there is really no need for him to do that. Even though he won’t be playing, there are still multiple teams including the Warriors that areĀ willing to offer him a max contract. We wish KD the best of luck in his free agency.
