Kids Can Drive Themselves To Surgery

A small baby girl is pretending driving a car.

Going into surgery is hard for everyone but it’s especially hard for children. The Doctors Medical Center in Modesto wanted to do something that could help the children going into surgery feel less stressed. They came up with a pretty awesome way to get kids excited, letting them drive themselves to surgery in toy cars. The kids get the option of a black Mercedes or a newly added Pink Volkswagon Beetle.

The Doctors are saying that it’s been a really positive thing for the kids, they get excited about driving the car and for a brief moment they can forget about the actual surgery. The Doctors Medical Group says “We can see the stress and anxiety melt away when they hop in the car.” It also helps the parents deal with the stress as well because they can see that their kid is happy and not as scared about the whole thing.

What do you think about this being something that all hospitals start doing?

With a little passenger in tow, Caroline takes our new pink Beetle for a spin! Doctors Medical Center now has two little cars available for our young surgical patients to ride into the operating room. We can see the stress and anxiety melt away when they hop in the car ❤
