This week marks the 10th Anniversary of the most famous emergency landing in aviation history.  On January 15th, 2009, pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger took off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport aboard US Airways Flight 1549.  Shortly after take off, 2 8 pound geese flew into each of the plane’s twin engines.  Captain Sullenberger had to choose between trying to reach the airport runway or attempt a water landing.  The pilot decided to land on the Hudson River, which investigators eventually said was the only choice that would have saved the plane.  All 154 passengers and crew survived what has come to be known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.”  Congratulations to Danville’s Captain Chesley “Sully ” Sullenberger a true Bay Area HERO!
