SAN FRANCISCO, CA – MARCH 21: Passengers board a MUNI bus on March 21, 2018 in San Francisco, California. According to a report by advocacy group TransitCenter, transit ridership declined in 31 of 35 major metropolitan cities in the U.S. in 2017. Factors in the decline include lower fuel costs, increased auto ownership and ridesharing services like Lyft and Uber. (Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)

San Francisco’s Transbay Transit center will be reopening July 1st, but there’s one issue…buses won’t be going through the transit center just yet. It seems that the structure is’t quite ready for transportation.

When the transit center reopens at 6 a.m. on July 1st, people can walk through the rooftop garden/park and take part in various classes such as yoga, knitting, and fitness boot camps. Food trucks will be lining up around the surrounding streets so you can have a nice lunch time stroll.

Buses will come later this summer. Muni & Golden Gate Transit buses will head to Beale & First sometime in early July. Greyhound, Westcat Lynx and AC Transit bus lines will roll through the bus deck in late summer.

For now it’s a waiting game to enter the Transbay Transit center, but we can’t wait to see it reopen once again. You can check out photos from their grand opening from August 2018 HERE.
