Time to get in shape. What’s your advice?

By 965koit on September 6, 2019

I’ve been feeling bad lately.

Like REALLY bad.

I feel fat, out of shape, bloated, and tense.

Even though Lilly is only crawling, I’m starting to worry that I won’t be able to keep up with her once she starts walking. You need stamina to raise a toddler! Something I don’t have a lot of right now.

So over the last couple of days, I’ve really looked at my life and it’s been eye-opening.

I spend a lot of time sitting on the floor playing with Lilly, but when she naps, I park myself in front of the tv and play on my laptop or phone.

I’m ready to make a change.

But I want to set myself up for success. I don’t want to jump into some crazy workout and diet plan.

I’ve tried that, and it’s never worked for me.

Three years ago, I fell off the back of a truck and destroyed my knee and leg.

I had an operation to move my tibia back into place and to repair some of the damage. I’m able to walk now, something I couldn’t do for four months, but I’m in constant pain due to the extreme arthritis that has set in.

Even getting off the floor when I’m done playing with Lilly is a task.

According to my doctor, I’ll never run again, which was my main form of exercise before the accident. I bought a stationary bike, but because of my knee, I can’t go fast enough or stand while peddling to get my heart rate up.

So, I need your help.

I want to get active again, but I don’t know what I can do. I don’t have access to a pool, nor would I in my current shape!

Lately, I’ve been taking daily walks that average about 40-50 minutes but it’s at a pretty slow pace.

How does someone like me get more active without hurting my leg further? I would love to get your helpful tips!
