Saturday:

52nd Annual Sand Castle & Sand Sculpture Contest: This FREE event will be held at Robert Crown Memorial State Beach Park in Alameda from 9a-1p. Bring your shovel and buckets to the beach to create a piece of art. It’s free to compete and free to watch.

2018: Union Street Music Festival: This FREE event will be held on Union Street all day so stop by and the different variety of bands, arts and craft vendors, and food.

109th Annual Cherry Festival and Parade: This FREE event will be held from 11a-6p in Downtown San Leandro. The parade will be held at 10a. There will be a beer garden, live entertainment, arts and crafts, and a kids zone. 30,000 people are expected at the festival.

 

Sunday:

2018 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon: More than 2,000 triathletes from around the world will do the 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz Island to the San Francisco shoreline, an 18 mile bike ride out to Golden Gate Park and an eight-mile trail run through the Presidio. It’s FREE to watch and cheer on these amazing athletes.

19th Annual Buttery & Bird Festival: This FREE event will take place at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont from 10a-3p. The event is dedicated to increasing the numbers and species of butterflies and birds in Bay Area landscapes. There will be graden tours, hands on activites, educational speakers, music, and more.
