Are You A Lawnmower Parent? You better hope NOT!

By on September 26, 2018

I had no idea there was even a term “lawnmower parent”.  I have heard of “helicopter parent”  but this is different, very different.  Helicopter parents are those that hover over their child to make sure they don’t get hurt at the park or makes sure their child gets things done on time and literally stands there to make sure things are completed.  A lawnmower parent is a parent that does things FOR their child when their child is well capable or at least capable of learning and part of the learning process can be painful but necessary in order to achieve self sufficiency.  In short, lawnmower parents inhibit their child’s independence and self reliance. When I read the article below I just about fell out of my seat with some of the ridiculous things parents were doing.  Get ready to scratch your on this one. lol
