Parts of Highway 5 near the Grapevine have snow and ice. Drive with caution.

Many of us have done the drive down to Southern California on Highway 5 but with these rain storms hitting the west coast the visibility has been very bad.  Aside from the visibility the roads have ice and snow.  Highway 5 by the Grapevine was closed for while but was reopened around 6pm this evening and vehicles had to be escorted by the CHP. Caltrans were also letting vehicles pass 5-6 at a time to avoid collisions.  If you absolutely have to drive down that way be very careful and be prepared for delays if road conditions worsen.
