Support our veterans at the 2.2 challenge walk in Livermore

By on November 7, 2019
Last year I had a winner for a Mariah Carey concert and his name was Jaime.  We got to talking and found out he is one of our dear veterans.  He served in the Marines and had been in combat.  He reminded me of my nephew who also served in the Marines and did tours.  We got to talking and I thanked him for his service.  We keep in touch from time to time and recently he sent me this message:
Hi Freska,
I hope this email finds you well. It’s been a while since we last spoke. I wanted to reach out to you and see if you can possibly help me out or direct me in the right direction. Did you know that approximately 22 service members commit suicide every single day? That number is way too high! Some service members don’t have the opportunity to ask for help. So here at Las Positas College, we strive to help all of our student veterans.
So on November 9th, 2019, the student veterans at Las Positas College and the Sean Brock Foundation have partnered up to host a “2.2k For The 22 walk and a 5k run event. We will have booths set up throughout the campus of local businesses and organizations that support the men and women of our Armed Forces. The Sean Brock Foundation was developed to provide resources and educational assistance to the families of our true heroes. The goal for this foundation is to provide scholarships to support the families of our fallen or wounded service members. The U.S. Navy Recruiting office of Livermore and the American Red Cross have also joined our team by bringing a blood drive to our event as well.
How can you help? We would like to get the word out to the entire Bay Area. This event is open to the general public. The 2.2 challenge walk will consist of 15+ optional challenge stations hosted by campus departments and community groups with refreshments and entertainment provided. The second element will be a 5K event will raise funds for the Sean Brock Foundation scholarship.  Both events will take place at the Las Positas College campus. For those who can’t partake on the physical side can still help the community by donating blood. We would like to see if you KOIT would like to be part of the event and host music for the halfway point of the 2.2k and 5.k run? Any assistance would be truly appreciated.
[Here] is the link for the event. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate in reaching out to me. My contact information is located below. Thank you!
Best,
Jaime
I am so thankful for Jaime and my nephew and our veterans for serving our country.  Like I told Jaime and my nephew Daniel I will never know how they feel.  I have never seen what they have seen or gone through what they have gone through and I am so thankful for their sacrifice.  We need to take care of our vets.  I hope that you  may have some time to  support these fine men and women by attending their event on Saturday Nov. 9th at Las Positas College in Livermore!!
