This sounds like a case of “What had happened was…!”

The Franchise Tax Board may be contacting you because the group that actually verifies your wages didn’t do that on 23,500 returns!  So they will begin contacting people Monday to let them know if they owe more money or if they get an even bigger return!  Hopefully it’s the latter!  Good luck.
