The winner is this 2,175-Pound Pumpkin

Once again the community is in awe of this year’s winning pumpkin at the Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay.  It actually set a state record.   The owner of this slightly over one ton pumpkin is Leonardo Urena of Napa. He took home $15,000 for his 2,175 pounder.  He mentioned that he actually talks to his pumpkins and tells them that he is proud of them and encourages them to keep growing.  Leonardo won the competition once before in 2011.  (The heaviest pumpkin to date for the contest was entered in the 2017 Weigh-Off weighing in at 2400 lbs. )
