Now is a perfect time of the year to remind ourselves that the Bay Area has tons of “Stay-cation” options within a 1-to-3 hour drive. Sometimes a day trip is all we need! Not tourist attractions, but local getaways for the whole family. Here are some ideas:
Tomales Point Trail
Point Reyes Light House.
Petaluma with one of the largest Star Wars and Lucas Film museums and where portions of “American Graffiti” was filmed.
Bodega Bay…great seafood at Spuds Point and where the Hitchcock movie “The Birds” was filmed years ago!
Imagination Park in San Anselmo. George Lucas created this park with statues of Yoda and Dr. Jones from “Raiders Of The Lost Arc” (and Han Solo).Safari West in Santa Rosa…just as it sounds, a safari in Santa Rosa!
Capitola, Santa Cruz county. Great food and beaches.Jack London State Park in Sonoma County, home of writer jack London!!
I’m sure there are many more destinations. Please feel free to add yours!!
