PINECREST, FL - OCTOBER 18: Shoppers enjoy the grand opening of a Trader Joe's on October 18, 2013 in Pinecrest, Florida. Trader Joe's opened its first store in South Florida where shoppers can now take advantage of the California grocery chains low-cost wines and unique items not found in other stores. About 80 percent of what they sell is under the Trader Joe's private label. (Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images)

See what changes are coming to Trader Joe’s, thanks to YOU!!

Did you see it? Inside Trader Joe’s February edition of the Fearless Flyer, among the new items and  promotions, was a survey to customers.

TJ’s will be taking more steps to reduce plastic and other packaging waste. They’ve also replaced styrofoam trays that used to be used in produce packaging with compostable trays.

Other changes Trader Joe’s is phasing in include:

  • Selling more produce as loose items, instead of bagged in plastic
  • Eliminating plastic sleeves on greeting cards, replacing them with a compostable material
  • Eliminating plastic wrappers for flower bouquets, replacing them with a renewable material
