Why Does Lilly Do This?

Lilly has entered an…interesting phase.

I call it the “raspberry” phase. She keeps blowing air through her lips while her tongue out.

Why do babies do this?

Apparently it’s very important to her development.

This phase happens between 6-8 months old. It helps babies learn how to control their voices, volume and pitch. This is important exercise for her lips, tongue, and diaphram.

This is going to lead into the speech stage! AAHH! I’m not ready!

Experts say that I should just have fun with it. I should imitate her when she makes the noise so she feels like we’re having a “conversation”.

Did your child go through it? How did you handle all the spit?
