5 things to do for Daylight Saving Time

By 965koit on October 30, 2019

Daylight Saving will end 2:00am on Sunday November 3 and we all set our clocks back 1 hour.  The good news is we gain an extra hour of sleep.  The bad news it gets darker earlier.

Daylight Saving is also a good time to take care some important tasks around the home.  Here are 5 ideas you might want to adopt 2 times per year when we Spring Forward and Fall Back.

1. Change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

Take the time to make sure your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are in working order and have fresh batteries.

2. Flip your mattress.

Manufacturers recommend flipping your mattress every 6 months for the best results.  If you have a pillowtop you can rotate it instead of turning it over.

3. Wash your pillows.

Pillows need a good cleaning 2 times per year.  If you’ve had your pillows for more than 2 years, it’s time to replace your pillows.

4. Review your medicine cabinet and pantry.

Clean out your bathroom cabinets and get rid of expired prescriptions and medical supplies.

5. Clean the oven.

Get ready for the holidays.  Get your kitchen in the best shape by running the self-cleaning function.

Most important, give yourself a few days to get adjusted to the new time.  Changing our internal clocks can be challenging.  Make sure to get enough rest.
