Which Anniversary Is The Most Important One?

Kristen and I have been married for almost 4 years but we have been a couple for 10. Our 4th wedding anniversary is on September 19th and we usually celebrate by buying gifts that fit that years tradition. For example, the first anniversary is traditional gift is paper, the second is cotton etc. However when November 11th rolls around, our 10 year anniversary date, we don’t really do anything to celebrate because we JUST did something. Some how that date is no longer as important as the marriage date and it doesn’t make sense to me.

Shouldn’t the original day that we became a couple be the one that is most important? The day we were married is cool and everything but that’s not when the relationship started. Are we supposed to just erase that day and start fresh from the marriage date? Obviously, we could celebrate both but there are already a ton of holidays during the months of September-December.

How have you and your significant other handled this dilemma? Which date is the most important?
