The community came together to build 91 Build-A-Bears!!

By on November 19, 2018

This past Saturday I was fortunate to be a part of the Teddy Bear Drive at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo with Build-A-Bear and The At Risk Youth Foundation! The foundation works with first-responders in the Bay Area (fire, paramedics, police) and gives them bears to give to children on scene of a traumatic experience.  For example, sometimes paramedics have to transport a child from the scene of a car accident to the hospital and a teddy bear can help soften the anxiety that the child may be feeling.

The community really came through to support and after 6 hours 91 bears were built and donated!!  One woman who happened to be passing by decided to build 5 bears which were $10 each.  Thank you to everyone for their support and to Tully Wachtelborn thank you for the lifelong partnership.
