Ways to help your dog feel less frightened during the 4th of July

By on July 2, 2019

15 years ago when I was a first time dog owner I had no idea of just how badly my Rottweiler would react to 4th of July festivities.  The loud noises frightened her and when I got home the parts of the house looked like it had been ransacked.  Poor thing was scared and I found her nestled in a corner of my bedroom.  She even moved my mattress off the box springs.

I have since taken the proper precautions.

Here are a few things you can do to help your dog feel less frightened and keep them safe during the 4th of July.

  1.  Have calm music playing
  2.  Put a compression jacket on your dog
  3.  If they are kennel trained keep them in their kennel
  4.   Have someone home with your dog
  5.   Have your dog stay at a boarding facility
